Uneven granite tiling

Could anyone help with some advice. The polished granite floor we had laid is uneven and wonky and the whole lot needs to come up and be re laid. How do I go about lifting the tiles (if possible) and re laying them? Or have we lost our money and have to buy new tiles? Many thanks

Depending when they were fixed it maybe difficult to save them. If they've been fixed recently the sooner you try to save them the better. Granite is the ardest tile there is so you might be lucky. I would use a hammer and bolster or SDS drill with tile removing chisel. You may also have adhesive stuck to the back of the tile which would need removing and you could use a fein multimaster tool (if you can get hold of one) with an adhesive removal attachment

you mighy be lucky and lift them with minimal damage as already stated, can you get under them in a doorway to get you started

I can get under them from the dining room side as we haven't laid the floor there yet. It's a kitchen diner. The grout is still wet. Is it worth trying to get as much grout out as possible? Thank you

okay so they should lever up without snapping under their own weight, but I'd try and rake out the grout first.

Thanks for your replies. I'll have a go and let you know if it works....If not I'll be looking for a tiler who can either save them or lay new new ones - preferably not the latter

Who fixed the tiles ? did you get a Pro tiler or did you do it yourself ?

EDIT you must have posted while I was typing, sounds like you did the job yourself ?

We couldn't find anyone to do it as they could only do ceramic and didn't want to take the risk with it being granite. Even the kitchen fitter was unable to recommend anyone as they had used a few that did a bad job. A friend did it as he said he was confident he could do a good job!! New to this DIY stuff as never had to do anything before.
