Uneven walls and weight limit?

Hello guys,

If you're presented with a job that has significantly uneven plastered walls and you're using porcelain (or any other heavy tile), how do fix them without exceeding the 20kgm2 weight limit? I'm familiar with BAL and Mapei thick bed adhesives, however I'm assuming these wouldn't be the answer as a deep bed behind the tile would surely give it an excessive weight?

This isn't a job I have infront of me, it's just a potential scenario that has been puzzling me and any info would be great so I can tackle that job when it does arrive.

Theres no other way in saying this but the substrate has to be suitable to take the tile weight and size you are using plus addy and grout! End Off

ok then how about dob and dabbing scluter kerdi board on the walls and using there mechanical fixings this will straiten the walls and provide a good substrate which will carry the weight. easy

Makes a lot of sense - now that is too easy! :smilewinkgrin: I haven't had an opportunity to use Kerdi Board yet. Are the mechanical fixings easy to install? Does anyone know whether Schluter has a brochure or product guide?
