Hi guys

Just thought I'd give you an update of what I've done since I started tiling in August last year, and some questions on what to do now.

Some of you may know me from October last year when I tiled a bathroom for a cust as my first job, which was really a bit too much for me, but I finished and it wasn't as bad as I thought. Since then I've done 1 job, part time, which I finished just before Christmas. You can see both these on Clark & Wilson - Home to get an idea of my work.

The lack of Tiling work (as the recession has bitten) put me in a bad position financially and I've had to take on office admin jobs to keep the bills at bay up to now, which I loathe  - I want to tile full time.

My question is where do I go from here? How do I get enough work to go full time? I have posted some adverts around the Paisley area and updated my details on sites like My Hammer. I have a ad on Yell and am trying to pass cards around but with no response atm.

I would be willing to pair up with someone to get my experience up and to help them out, but is there enough work out there to do that.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance.

Lawrence

I would see if you can do other odd jobs around peoples' homes.

Getting your foot in the door opens up opportunities and you have the satisfaction of knowing that you have earned a wad of cash from a happy customer. That is real motivation to know that someone out there hands you cash with a smile on their face because you're worth it. (Hair product advert tone lol).

Don't forget your new market that is at your fingertips....

Believe it or not many of these guys will have houses of their own and will need the services of a good tiler. Is there a staff noticeboard where you can advertise your services? Stick your website on that advert and I'm sure some staff will be courious to see it.

Also, it's a good conversation piece over coffee breaks "What are your interests?" "Oddly enough I really like tiling and am trying to get established in the trade - I do floors walls etc, I've got a website and I'm sure a lot of you will have a sneakly look during your lunch hour"
