Using own van while employed?

Been using my own van whilst employed paye for past year, anyone else doing this, how do you claim expenses against tax etc?

PAYE = no expense claims against tax pretty much.

But then you get the benefits of holidays , sick pay , pension , etc etc etc.

Seems a bit odd though , if you're on the books then he ought to be supplying a van really not you.

You should be able to claim expenses for private fuel used on company business. The standard rate is 45p per mile up to 10000 miles and 25p for anything over.

Do you get a car allowance?

Im pretty sure you can claim car or van. Its a p87 if your claim os less than 2500 otherwise its a self assessment. Already looked into it. You can also claim for tools if your company dont supply.

You didn't used to get taxed for having a van but they brought that in a while back. The only way round it say for example, you drive to your employers in your own car or get bus whatever and only use the van from the employer to the place of work/site and back to employers, then your own transport. If you drive from home to site then its classed as personal mileage.

When I had a company car I was always out at customers and rarely went into office. When it came to filling in mileage forms, because I lived 7 miles away from work I had to deduct 14 per day off my total travel as that was my personal mileage to and from my place of work.

Or you could just be self-employed.
