i am going to remove my bath and replace it with a shower cubicle, when the house was built the builders left part of the wall that is hidden from view by the bath unplasterd.
would it be ok to cover this area with plaster board then tile on top of it with water proof adhesive and grout.
thanks kevin.
Yes that would be fine Cacran. You might want to consider tanking your shower area prior to tiling.

thanks grumpygrouter,i was hoping i could cover the existing tiles, that seem sound with the new tiles. I previously had a shower into the bath with no problems with water leaks.
Can i also ask about priming the tiles already on the wall, i was going to give them a good scrubbing and use a primer, what primer should i use and would the plaster board need sealing with anything.
thanks kevin

if you have normal plastered walls i.e. not plasterboard, you need to be careful with the extra weight of tiling over tiles! plaster will only take 20kg/m2 in weight. You would need to ABSOLUTELY SURE that the current tiles are securely fixed AND that the plaster holding them is sound.

Personally i wouldn't risk it. I would remove them and start afresh.
