Using travertine outside??

Just looking for some advice really guys, i am a landscaper and am looking to use trav for part of a design i have done for a customer. Now they like the idea, but not the price! Is there any real reason why i have to use the more expensive 30mm trav designed for outdoor use, as opposed to using conventional 12mm trav.

Now i know that the obvious reason is due to frost, but surely if the sub-base is adequate and they are layed, sealed and grouted correctly this shouldnt be a problem??

Any first hand advice/experience would be muchly appreciated

you have answered your own question really, frost and foot traffic ,outside stone wears quicker than internanally due to climatic conditions and more abrasive foot traffic 12mm travertine wont last long outside

My stone supplier sells 30mm trav the same price as 12mm , he imports
Direct so can do that.
