I priced up a job for a small shower cubicle 750x750x2100 plus a bit of tiling above the shower door. Metro tiles in brickbond and a mosaic border.
I knew it would be a tight squeeze so I invested in a Pocket’40. Great little cutter. I estimated 2 days work. The customer had the grout and the Silicon so I just charged for the labour. I threw in the addy for free. Final price £320 (London area).
Day 1 and 10 hours later! My legs were feeling a bit sore from getting into the shower cubicle, turning around, closing the bi-fold door, bending down and measuring up the cuts, standing up, turning around, opening the door, stepping outside, bending down to make the cuts then starting the process over again. I could not take the door off because the previous tile job above the door.
Day 2 and I could hardly walk. 10 hours later and I could hardly stand. I asked the customer if she had got any other quotes. She said that she had a few tilers come over, but none of them ever got back to her after seeing the job. I’ve still got to go back tomorrow to Silicon, but boy was it a tight squeeze.
