Hi,

Sorry this may be a rather basic question!..... I am tiling my wet-room floor and walls... The floor tiles are a different colour to the wall tiles (darker), and the floor grout will also be darker than the wall grout.

The query I have is whether there is a 'best' orientation for the respective wall and floor tiles at the point they join? - i.e. the corner of the room.. Should I be tiling the floor first and cutting the wall tile in, or should I do the wall tile first and then cut in the floor tile?? My gut feel is to cut the wall tile in?

What do you all think? I would appreciate your experience on this.

Thanks.

It's a good question OJ, as it will be different visually in each case.
Some guys do do this both ways, put the wall tiles to the floor then floor tile up to them, some leave the bottom course off, tile the floor and cut the bottom course on to the floor tiles.
Unless you make a brilliant job of cutting your wall tiles on to the floor tiles then the neatest result will be tiling off the floor first and then laying the floor tiles up to it, this will look neater.
But, there is the issue of expansion/movement of the floor tiles against the wall tiles. What are the floor tiles going onto???? So this method is kinda frowned upon.
