washing machine

got a kitchen floor to do tomorrow, and they want it tiling under the washing machine, so need to remove it on my own, ooch my back!
how easy is it to diconnect pipes, do they have isolator taps on them and quick release connectors ???

they are normally dead easy to remove unless they are from the stoneage!simply pull it out one person can do it easy.waste connectr normally just lifts out(watch for excess water)have a bucket ready.then the water supplies should be colour coded and have isolator valves on them.turn themoff and unscrew again drain any excess water off.i normally use masking tape to tape all three pipes on top of machine to stop any water coming out.dont forget to unplug it.then move out of way. when your ready to put back try and get a hand so you ncan lift in most of way to avoid scratching surface of tiles.when its time to refit do the reverse but check for leaks. try putting a litle card under back stops i find it helps the machine to slide back in place easier on your own. p.s dont forget to check there is enough room after the tiles have been laid!

Just make sure you level the machine once its back in or it will shake like buggery, you should be able to reach the back feet if you've got the plinths off.

Just be careful of the height difference the washer is going to have once it's sitting on tiles and adhesive in realation to the worktops above if there is one.

may have to unscrew hose to get machine out your way
if so have some spare washers and make sure they are flush
before tighting the hose

another idea stole of holmes on homes he uses a blanket or sheet as a cradle so two people can pick it up easier but not tried it myself as usually work on own

Cardboard under the feet make it easier to slide in...............still have to hump it out mind

Some can be easy to move around, and some for some reason seem to be twice the weight and are a right pain to move.

I'm with cj on this, but I use a bit of hardboard, shiny side down when I have to move mine - same principal though - most will have the adjustable feet at the front and the wheels at the back. Once the front feet are clear of the floor its a doddle to pull with the door open.
