Well after much posting here and getting some invaluable advice i'm off and running with the bathroom. The room is empty and the floor is up,just re-piping for the new thermostatic mixer shower (with the shower head on a rail)and the new towel rad.I'll try and put some piccys up later,BUT i have one nagging doubt,i have a 2.8x1.6 metre wide room which will have the shower area in at one end i have a 1300x800mm Impey shower tray and will have a 900mm wide glass screen of one wall,it's an Impey one which will sit off the floor a bit on two brackets.
Do you guys think i will be able to contain the water in this area or should i build a small raised platform for the shower area to help contain the water?.

What 've done in the past with these screens is cut a length aluminium channel down to size (you can get these from B&Q and come in varying internal widths from 8mm to 12mm depending on the thickness of your screen) and fix it along the floor and plumb up the wall, with a bead of silicone on the underside then screw fixed in to the floor/wall, where your screen is going before tiling. Then tile up to these channels - as they are only approx 10mm high they are then hidden by the tiles leaving a neat recess to slot your screen into. Run a bead of silicone along the full length of the channel and drop the screen in and you are left with a nice minimal look of the glass coming out of the tiles. Depending on the size of your screen you may also need to use a chrome retaining bar from the screen to the wall:thumbsup:

Now that is a good idea, I will try this in my wetroom, I don't like to see the aluminium strips I think it spoils the screen.

It looks spot on Mick mate and you are left with no visible fixings at all and a fully watertight screen. Rather than paying daft money, I used to simply get the glass cut, edges polished and toughened at the local glass supplier - that way you can get it made to any size shape or thickness you want:thumbsup:
