Re: webber slc

Haven't used Weber Charlie, I use Uzin LevelStar 170. 25kg takes 6.5 L of water. Flows really well.

You should NEVER put more water in than the manufacturer recommends, otherwise you will be tiling onto a very weak layer of laitance, so if Weber doesn't flow well at 5.25 L then that's as good as that brand SLC will get. Time to try something else.

Uzin is very good.

thanks mike, I know what your saying! I was using ball stopgap and liked it but trying to find a cheaper flexing alternative! I like the sound of the one you have mentioned but never heard of it over here

Charlie, it's possibly a bit specialised, more known within the flooring industry (Uzin make adhesives for safety flooring, linoleum, karndean etc, and a massive range of substrate prep smoothign compounds, repair screeds, and SLCs).

I did a quick Google search and found a flooring specialist selling it in the U.K.: UZIN NC 170 LevelStar - Directflooring2u

Seems expensive, but then, if you only have to do the job once, as opposed to not getting the result you want and having to try and level it again (always much harder if it doesn't go down in one pour) or worse, build up voids with tile adhesive, then sometimes paying a bit more up front saves more down the line.

If you get a chance, give it a try. I doubt you'll be disappointed as it's a quality product.

Back to the OP.. about Weber and not uzin.:)

Weber floor flex IMHO flows very good but you must float it to required thickness,, it will not flow on it's own ..

Then it's not good then is it Dave.

Will you please post a video of someone floating a room with SLC and then controlling it with a straight edge and spirit level once it's dried. If it's either flat or level I will set fire to my eyebrows and post a photo of the aftermath. :yikes:
