Hi

I've done this as my wife is in marketing and it got me poor results. It works well for many businesses but in my opinion, not tilers due to the high proportion of people who look for a reccomendation.

If you really want to give it a go, firstly make sure that you get a £30 voucher from google for your registration. If you can't get one, have a look on moneysavingexpert.com and it'll be one there. Then you need to position key words and phrases in your website that people may type into a google search such as 'tiler', 'tilers' and so on, this also includes possible locations as well. Some companies try to include key words within the copyriting in their website while others simply put them all at the bottom of a webpage.

When you register with adwords, you will have to set up your ad, The key phrase that most businesses use at the top of their ad has something to do with discounts etc to catch a customer's eye. When you set keywords, this is where all the key words from your website go in. To be honest, this part is pretty easy. When you move on setting how much you would like to pay per click, its worth setting a low amount at the start and then check the positioning yourself and then adjust the amount until you get where you want to be.

Adwords is used by many big companies who have people permanently adjusting thier ads to stay at the top. You'll notice this if you check your
ad through the day.

There's a lot more to it, so if you want more info just pm me.

I get most my new businness from local ad mags (on your doorstep etc).

Hope this is of some help......

Davy, checkout the threads in the tilersforums arms related link exchanging and what-not. Also do a search in there for 'optimisation' and you find lots of advice. Obviously give me a shout via PM if you want and I'll point you in the right direction.

I wouldn't go for Adwords untill you have ranked better in the natural listings. You could end up paying lots of money monthly for nothing.
