Anyone tiled onto a deck the same as this before??



Does it need prepared as it's really shiny & smooth, I thought it had a film on it but apparently not..

Give it a good rub over with a course sandpaper and then use a fleece membrane to tank, it should tuck nicely into the trap...

The akw trays are good but you do need to rough them up for a good key , I prefer to slurry coat them for a stronger bond , Eco-prim grip works a treat.

Got some grip left in the garage.
Tbh I prefer mixing my own slurry coat now as the extra stick you get with it is superb.

i like to membrane over the whole floor inc tray , this then makes sure you fully cover the fixing points.

If if you use the Dural wp or schluter kerdi, then you can lock it into the drain collar ring easier .

Why not follow the manufacturers recommendations ? , If you make up your own method and it fails you will only have yourself to blame

We haven't got any Gary, the plumber ([emoji35]) binned all packaging & don't even know where it was purchased from.
It's also fixed onto caberdeck so I need to build up the floor going to it or get him back & do it again..

it may be better to wait until you have the right stuff Stef , I have heard of a failure on this type of former when the wrong products were used

Ah ok, got you now Gary.
Just watched another couple of videos on this deck & they tanked it with Mapei gum.
Not starting the job for another 2 weeks yet so will pop back down next week & check a few things over..

Personally it looks like a copy of impey aqua deck. I would always use a membrane over this and a underfloor heating kit of 100w per m2. 160w if your using a non bitumen tanking kit. If you don't have instructions, follow what impey would advise.

Ideal TB, plumbers got another couple to fit in the adjoining house so will get destructions from there.
