Wet wall

Any of you guys fit wet wall from time to time? What do you think of it? I've done a few fits recently and must say... I hate the stuff! I hate the way it looks, gets fitted , the whole idea of it, I utterly detest the stuff but I do get paid to just get it done. I swear though, I don't think I can fit much more of it. Customers seem to love it though!!

I'm getting asked more & more if I do it, not a fan of it but I'm seriously considering starting.
I've seen some horrible jobs done with the stuff & just don't like the idea of introducing mdf into a bathroom environment.

yeah fitted it few times in last couple of years, not done a full bathroom in it, found the whole process a pain and i got no satisfaction from the finnish, remind me of caravan wall,
i have noticed its becoming increasingly popular.
also but a few of the pvc ceilings up recently they are also a thankless task...

I'm not a particular fan of it - i think it looks cheap (despite the price of the stuff!)

Ive never fitted it (or been asked to), however I have had a few people say they are swaying between this and tiles.

I obviously root for the tiling!

joiners sell it as something easier to keep clean. however it smears when wipedown . on top of that it looks rubbish. it is becoming more popular round where i am. think that has something to do with the amount of multi traders/ handymen that are kicking about

Got a bathroom to fit in September with wet wall around the bath and in the shower area. I think it looks like a pizza shop kitchen.
There's no accounting for taste. I asked what tiles were going on the floor, she said "carpet"

here you go you can use real tiles in stead and leave the plastic in the bin with the other rubbish

Glad you all feel the same! I don't think any good tiler would like fitting it. Can't wait for 5-8 year time from now when it's been found out, can't wait to be ripping all this rubbish back out

Ray, you have been tiling a hell-uv-a lot longer than me and seen the trends in tiling and bathroom coverings, how do you see this wet wall panning out? Tbh, it's sad but I think it's here to stay in limited areas but I'm hoping it can be got rid off completely

I first used wet wall in my own shower 15 years ago. Tested my carpentry skills, but it lasted. Its not new and its not a fad - but when you use all the necessary trims (corners and edges) it is more expensive than ceramic tiles.

Personally I hate fitting it, and never feel the result looks good. But then I am a tiler, not a carpenter...

5ft 10in & 13 stone m8 so you can imagine trying to fit that tile.
As Mark says that's the day out you missed.
Going to do my own wet room in these, pay Ray a wee visit in the next few months hopefully.

well you are right its been about for years over priced on cost and fixing but old people loved it now you have a better prouduct easyer to fix cheaper to buy a real tile that looks like a tile and the grey foxes whant more than plastic they want style and look over plastic pannels any day .before they never had a choice today they do and the grey foxes chose large format tiles all day long

We've used it a couple of times in the last few years and to be honest I think it's great!
Especially in the context of an overall design mixed with tiles and panelled ceilings the look can be very contemporary.
Only ever used it in shower areas in the dark slate colour range complimented with grey/black tiles and the rooms looked stunning.
As for the longevity of the product, well we are in a fashion industry and if a bathroom lasts 8 years then that's good for us !
