wetroom on a concrete floor

hi guys just had a customer ring me about wanting a wetroom in a bungalow in the current bathroom. The base is concrete so no drain is fitted. I know this is currently beyond me im sure i could tank and tile it but as ripping up the base and having a go at fitting the drain im just not even going there. So the question is would you turn down the job or would you go about getting a builder in on the act to sort the base and drain and then complete the needed works after ??????? dilemma am i right in thinking that a channel needs to be cut out the floor from the drain to the wall and then the waste pipes run outside to drain i just dont know ???

Do you not have any other trades you work in conjuction with plumbers, joiners etc?

Id be wanting to take it on and sub the relevant work out, but thats what I normally do & vice versa.

yeah that's what im thinking i don't know anyone but looking into it its fairly straightforward i met with the customer after posting this thread and there happy to adopt this principle of getting a builder in to do the floor and drain work and for me to tank and tile I just told them straight that i wasn't comfortable with doing the drain and I wasn't the type of person who would just have a go and I think they appreciated the honesty now i need to start looking into tanking systems any suggestions ???

No probs mate. have you tried the plumbers forum for a an experienced guy in your area? might be worth a bash

Have a butchers at PHG site sponsor for some waterproofing options or ring them very helpfull indeed.

I'd try and get a plumber who dos'nt do tiling, maybe a good move perhaps..

i'd get an experienced plumber to do the pipework but i'd do the former myself. it's not hard to do and there are videos on youtube showing how to do this

ive been looking on you tube but i cant seem to figure out what i need to look for, so if the plumber does the pipework then what would you be looking to do about the drop down into the drain i guess it wouldnt be a tray being as its concrete if it were floor boards illd know which way to turn but dont know about this ???

Hope these are of some use, Wedi is a good brand there are other good brands such as marmmox available at PHG.

thanks for the video's the only concern i have is that the gentleman is in a wheel chair and i can see this will create a fairly sturdy step in to the room ????? is this the case and how can this bee avoided ??

thers no step its a bungalow the whole lower floor is a concrete slab

one of your other option is forming the falls yourself using SLC and waterproofing the room saving you some much needed height.

What condition is the slab in?
