This was my day on thursday.
Arrived to start tiling a bathroom with 60x40 unfilled trav. Walked into bathroom and omg, what a mess left by the builders. Walls uneven, holes in window returns, rubble allover floor, floor boards loose and missing. Just could'nt believe it and made my point to customer who then said builder would be around shortly.
I asked where mats were and was shown 6 bags of granfix marblefix for the floor (ok) and 6 tubs of granfix supergrip for the walls (not ok) lol. Customer said that is what shop sold him :yikes:, so thinking they had made a mistake i rang them and they said this is what they always did:yikes:. Then the builder walked in and i got straight back to the walls and how bad they were and his reply was 'just use abit more dot and dab':mad2: and he was proper shocked when i said 'no way, full bed only and no dot and dab'. He then said call it 'character building' with regards to overcoming walls, what a patonising!! I explained to customer my quote had gone out of the window and builder left. Pretty bad day at the mo.
At lunch the builder and his mate came back and first thing he said was 'thought you'd have got more done by now' to which i replied 'i would have, had i not had so much character building to do' lol and just when i started to get a little concerned (he's bigger than me) all i could think was where's my lump hammer lol, he disapeared leaving his mate himself, who then told me about the builders brother.
Now, from the outside house looks like a bungalow but the downstairs is buried in the hillside. His brother the plasterer comes in to skim bathroom ceiling and thinking it was solid floor, stands between floor boards and puts his foot through downstairs toilet ceiling:lol:. So he goes to sort out and cuts out a section but unbeknown to him someone has left a brick on top of plaster board and as he tilts the the section away, the brick slides off and smashes toilet to pieces:lol:
Don't get many like this, bathroom nearly finished and looks great:smilewinkgrin:
