what cutter & addy to use for marble??

hey guys, i priced a job for a good friend of my old mans last night, its a new build house(still in the process of being finished) . . . . but anyway theres a hole lot of tiling too be done!!!!

only thing is its all marble!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bout 10mm thick.
lots of this he's wantin put on the walls and on floors in different rooms, theres roughly 160squareM in total to be done.

so i'd be greatfull if you lot could help me out with the best cutter and addy (for the walls) to use for the job????????

oh, jus one more thing, i'd need to tank the areas where the showers will be.

is it just a case of mixing the slurry and painting it on in the shower area?

i would use white rapid set flex for it all. use a grinder or wet cutter for the marble but just watch for the veins running through it, they are weak points. the tanking is normally primer,tape and paint. just follow instructions and you will be fine. dont forget to seal the tiles before grouting.

yeah i was thinkin bout jus using the wet cutter too, would a rubi 600 plus cut the any good??

this is the 1st job ive done with marble so how do i go about sealing it?

you will find you can cut some marble with a dry cutter for some cuts but not always if its polished marble you shouldn't need to seal it but find out from the suppler if it needs to have any more sealer on it ete

You might also want to put some thought to the weight of marble on the walls. It can be heavy stuff. If it is going onto a plaster skim or even plasterboard you may well be approaching the recommended maximum weights.

Polishing process opens up the pores in porcelain tiles. Not quite the same principle with marble. The best thing to do is to test each stone on its individual merits to see if it will benefit from being sealed.
