What do you move when it come's to tiling kitchen floors, as in fridge freezers, washing machines. Do you do it or do you expect the customer to empty the kitchen for you. I must admit I've done it in the past, now worried if an item is damaged if I'm moving anythink It's down to me. I've had tradesmen in my house and there've refused to move any items whatsoever. Just wondering what you guys do. Thanks in advance.

Erm...

I'd expect most people to move heavy items out of the way, just like a carpet fitter does, well every single item really, as Im not a removal man, and also I've had a spine op in the past and shouldn't really move anything heavy.

Obviously there will always be some customers who simply cannot move items out of the way, like old people, who maybe don't have any family close by to help, then I'd probably do what I could to help.

One job last month I did a kitchen and utility area,an old lady with her young grandaughter.I had to move the kitchen table to the back wall tile underneath it except for 4 tiles where the legs were(table to big and heavy to pick up)had to move the big fridge freezer, washing machine and dryer all by myself.
I'd only do it for someone like that whos unable to do it themselves, but next time I'd make sure I'd get extra for doing it.

Yep, same probles as you guys, doesnt matter what you say at the time, i have removed toilets, fridges, washing machines, pots & pans and toilet brushes. I always have an idea when quoting what the room will be like when i come and usually it needs alot of prep work still doing to it!
£25 an hour? Think im way to cheep as im £15 for prep work. Maybe thats why i keep getting so much to do!

2nd floor job I just finished last friday. guy from work. Tiled and grouted the floor. told him not to move anything back for at least 12 hours (fridge etc). he calls me the next morning (I spent 18 hours up there the day before just to finish it so I could play footie on the Saturday) saying he tried to move the fridge back and cracked a tile and would I go up and fix it. he lives 20 miles away from me :mad2::mad2::mad2:. done it for him but charged him obv lol
