Your comments please..

Do you think a presenter on site is a gimmick or a useful selling tool for
a website.

This is a mockup of how our site might look on the landing page if we go ahead with this idea.

The idea is that she tells you about the company and product.

This is her in action.

I think we we are going to go ahead and try it but just wondered what you guys thought about the idea!

Over to you for comments.....

It's very American but could work. Does it affect the speed of the site loading up much?

Do you have a facebook fan page? if so why don't you integrate her into your page, things like that on facebook always get people talking and give people a reason to visit your page.

Something I AM going to INSIST on is that
to start her off you have to hit the play button.
What I cant stand is going back to sites and having them
say the same old thing again and again.

It gets VERY annoying!

So she will be silent until visitor hits the play button.

Have a look at this video set up to see what I mean

It's back to that same old argument again... I think it will turn off the tradesmen who will assume you are a gimick, I know some big brands do it but that's just it, they are big brands that already have a market pressence (I'm not saying you don't but you know what I mean... household names).

Now if you are still after the general public then I think it could work quite well.

Maybe now might be the time to add a secondary site www.365drill.com and www.365tradedrills.com, have a look at Dulux's two sites, I think the've done it very well, one where they hold the browsers hand and one were the user already know what he/she is looking for.

By the way how expensive is this service? we're not talking 'The Sun' figures again are we?

Hey Richard how are things? Kenny from diamond by the way. I think if its an option to listen or not to listen then give it a whirl although it will mainly be diyesr that will click on play mind as tilers will know what there looking for without the speal, so I suppose it depends on your target market. All the best

hi rich
that technique seems a bit old hat now imho..
people in 2010 dont want gimmicks or plastic sales techniques....they want no nonsence facts and figures.

with marketing you have either got to believe in the product or believe in the way it is presented. theres no doubting your product but you would need to get a recognised person who people can relate to and that costs a lot of money.

my own personal view is, 'if the product makes sense, then it doesnt need explaining' your product makes sense, so i'd put your money into other ways of marketing but i am sure theres some really good marketing people on here who can add some weight to this thread

all the best and i will continue to support 365 drills as well as marcrist because i use them

Thanks chaps.

You guys provide a lot of sense. They charge £300 quid for the video and its shorter than 2 mins. So its a bit juicy. (Hi Kenny! - Yes I am well so far its a good start to the year).

I'm always a bit torn with these marketing things. Like Flash intros to a website I always tend to hit the skip button. And if a site doesnt have a skip button it makes me go mad. But on the two sites taht I've been to I do tend to watch the little clip.

This company sent me onto their client list and I did end up watching their little videos.

For example click here to have a look at Pro-Trolley. (Footnote: No way to shut him up!) as an example of a working site

Yes SHORT and TO THE POINT is quite right. They have a script writer who is putting it together and I can assure you its not going to be waffle.

Something else I have been asked for by other website resellers is for videos to help sell our product. So they seem to be in demand.

I am going to punt this and when the finished article is done then I will flag it on here. So hopefully it will be a bonus for those who do want to watch.
