What is the answer ?

Can anybody point me in the right direction for tiling over an upstairs floating floor in a new build house ? Is it the same sort of rules that apply to tiling over floorboards ? Many thanks in advance...

Personally I wouldn't tile it, seen to many failures on floating floors

Well no there are some joists. I don't know how many but it feels quite bouncy underfoot

Read that a bit quick, didn't realise it said upstairs. I've never seen one upstairs before

I don't think you get floaters upstairs. Would make no sense.

Ok my mistake. It's not a floating floor. Just a typical new build upstairs chipboard floor

I should imagine its screwed/nailed to joists. You'd need to sort out the deflection/bounce before anything else mate.

Make sure its screwed down, if its green chipboard sandpaper surface then eco prim T 1:2 water, mapetex stuck down with Keraquick and latexplus and you wont have any problems

You will have problems if there's too much bounce in that floor.
Doesn't matter what you put over it, you have to sort out the deflection 1st.
