What is the best tile you have ever worked with?

I know its a strange question but what is the best tile you have ever worked with in terms of beauty? It doesn't have to be the most expensive tile, just one that you really liked the end result with.

I think it changes all the time for me. Sometimes I use a tile and think I would use it in my house and then the next week I think the same about another tile !

I've always liked Cappuccino Polished Marble. I see lots that I like but always come back to that

Chinese multicolour uncalibrated riven slate. I remember fixing nearly all of the individual tiles by the unique features of its colour or pattern. Looks amazing when complete & a challenge too!

My personal favourite is high grade carrara marble.

I once did a bathroom in Marron Imperial and Crema Marfil though and it's hard to think of a better/more classy combination. The marron is a pig though, it does fracture quite easily.

Big fan of stone myself, fitted some Kestane travertine recently, beautiful stone, great quality and a pleasure to work with. Almost zero filler so made profiling a doddle.

Has to be stone though , it has natural life and not a man made imitation.

Dark emperador is one but must admit cannot decide.

Polished rectified porcelain for me, i know... Boring choice but i like challenge of fitting it, i aim to be fitting this with 1mm joint in near future, maybe with dark grey grout.... Love the stuff!

That is the same travertine that PHG has in stock , some comps give it different names.. very porous for a travertine isn't it.

6" white with self spacing and round edge. Used to scribe and break them with your fingers, Hardly any tools needed.:lol:

Years ago we had the agency for Sally Anderson tiles which were specifically designed murals. Really enjoyed those though even then a snapped tile could cost you £3 to get a replacement in the early eighties.

Now days,

Most grade 5 porcelain from a good manufacturer are great. No sealing and generally cut really well.

I love slate or any stone . Not a massive fan of working with trav but do like the look.
