what size van

Hi all, thinking of buying a van, not sure what one yet.
Was just wondering what size to go for !

Do I go for the transit size of van - so I can fit full sheets of ply in it.

Or one of the smaller mid range vans & keep the running costs down.

What do you guys use ?

I have a Fiat Scudo, which is same as Citroen Dispatch and Peugeot version as well. Mid size van. Have racked out one side and can still get backer board / smaller ply seets in. Running costs are not too bad...but driving in traffic is not good for consumption and with diesel as "cheap" as it is...???!?!!?

I NOW USE A VOLVO ESTATE, BUT HAVE USED VANS OF ALL SIZES.

I FOUND THE TRANSITS SIZES ARE GREAT FOR CARRYING ALL YOUR KIT AROUND BUT ALSO YOU TEND TO CARRY TO MUCH KIT AROUND WITH YOU AND RUBBISH YOU END UP SPENDING MORE ON FUEL BECAUSE OF THE EXTRA WEIGHT!

SMALL VANS ARE OUT FOR ME AS YOU NEED TO CLIMB IN THEM TO GET TO ANYTHING OUT UNLESS IT WAS THE LAST THING LOADED.

SO FOR ME AND IT IS ONLY A PERSONAL OPINION OF COURSE I FIND AN ESTATE DOES IT(ESP VOLVO AS THIS IS THE BIGGEST OPENING I HAVE FOUND!) AND YOU CAN TRANSPORT PEOPLE!AND WITH BACK SEATS DOWN ALMOST ANYTHING YOU WANT.

AGAIN IT DEPENDS ON YOUR PERSONAL CIRCUMSTANCES!!!SO ITS NEVER STRAIGHT FORWARD:mad2:

I have a vauxhal combo van and its a great van but tooooo small, im looking for a 2005 renault traficor vauxhal vivaro

I've got transit a good size for sheeting and everything else, Do like the look of the vivaro though

I've got a VW Transporter. I was originally looking at smaller vans but as I'm a plumber and carry alot of kit and materials the SWB Transporter suits just fine. Even with it fully racked out I can still get 8'x4' sheets in the back.

Mark.

I got a Peugeot Partner and at the moment it suits me fine, i think a bigger van for me would look rather empty therefore encouraging me to fill it up with more tools, and that would make me rather unpopular with the wife.
