Hi all, normally do domestic work at £20/£25 per metre or £100 per day which is average around here. Got to qoute for a local school, health & safety visit picked up on cracked quarry tiles in kitchen area which need replacing before school re-opens in August. Approx 3 sq m of quarry tiles , dotted all over in groups of about 7 or 8, to be lifted and replaced, I am to supply addy, grout and tiles (can get for £34/metre). Concrete looks good underneath. Unsure what to charge being a School, any ideas welcome, thanks, D.

I think I would be tempted to charge more. This is not about M2 it is about fiddling about. You have to lift the tiles, then clean the area etc etc. I do a lot of this work and I charge between £10-30 per tile if they are individual or more if in small groups. However, having said that Marble, Granite, Travertine are a lot harder to get up than quarries:thumbsup: You will also probably have a big shade variation! Have you discussed that with them?

If it's a definate job you've got then I'd price your normal rates (if not more than - it's a repair after all). If you're quoting I'd consider 'a deal' but I'd perahps consider giving them a price higher than mornal and discounting it on paper to your normal rates so it looks like you've done them a favour. Really you're doing them a favour by doing it, it's not the nicest of jobs though it is an easy one (providing the floor is good etc).
