what trowel for wood flooring?

Hi

I have a cloakroom, 3m sq to tile, it is a suspended floor half inch ply, with 6mm wbp screwed down at 150mm centre. I am using a nicobond rapidflexi adhesive on 300mm x 300mm ceramic tile, but the adhesive says to use a trowel that leaves a bed of 2-3 mm adhesive at the bottom with a groved layer above as its a timber floor!! I can't seem to find one of these and what are they called, can anyone shed any light on this please???

That is just the finished bed thickness once you have pressed the tile into the adhesive..an 8 to 10 mm notch will be fine.........
Not much of a subfloor there though , so you might want to think about a 2 part flexi adhesive..summit like bal fastflex.........

so this type of notched trowel, that leaves a sub base of adhesive with a groved layer above it does not exist?

regarding the floor thickness, there is half inch ply, then I screwed a 6mm ply ontop, but there is height issues with a hall way. what would you of recommended as I did a post about using ditra matting for this, but you and wivers replied that if i beefed the floor joists with noggins which I have done it should be okay with a flexi adhesive. do you think i should use a two part bal fastflex adhesive instead of the nicobond rapidflex?

Deffo 2 part adhesive. or thicker top ply.

BAL do a specific type of trowel for fastflex, it has hardend 3mm extentions to the end notch to ensure a solid bed. Expensive though!

8mm/10mm round notch of any brand will be fine, there will be plenty of gear under the tiles as long as you trowell on properly, back butter if you aint sure.

Find any high spots and adjust accordingly, blast it down, rub them on then stand back and admire

Thanks for all the replies, so just to clarify is a 8mm/10mm square notched trowel best for applying bal fastflex or a large round notched trowel?

Also I paid 43 quid for bal fastflex and liquid, what is the trade price on both of these?
