hey folks i've just completed my mates kitchen splashback and whole bathroom, about 16/18 sqm. nearly 4 long days. i thought it'd be done in a couple. ah well novices often get it wrong.
anyhoos the job is, in all honesty reasonable at best, maybe i'm being harsh as i've been staring at it for so long and close up, i see all the imperfections. this led me to stripping back down 1 and half walls to get the grout lines running better! still marginally out on one corner but if the adhesive goes off well, then it's staying put!!
i'm sure my mate will live with it, it's a rental flat and he's getting it done for labourer rates.
so my question, i haven't used any beading on external corners, the tiles just meet edge to edge, ish!! and i plan to have a grouted finish on them. i did this in my bathroom and quite liked it.
the grout i have, bal, is for 1-3mm grout lines. 2mm spacers but the corners are about 5-6 mm from the 2 furthest edges. also on some of the internal corners where i haven't cut so well there are gaps bigger than 3 mm to fill.
should i return the grout and go for wider type to be sure it does the job properly?
can i just also say how different/difficult it is to work on a 3d full room to just a straight run of tiles! my brain was pickled trying to work it out, this led to the **** up with the walls being taken back down.
ah well 4 times at tiling, it can only get better with practise!? maybe a wee course is needed to help things along.
