When to seal the tile

I have just got a job for 34sq m of walls and floor tiling in a kitchen. The customer has told me the tiles are brick mosaic. She wasn't able to give me any more info than that so I'm going to visit the retailer and find out. They are a light colour so I know I will need to use white addy. When it comes to sealing the tiles what is the best stage to apply the sealant. I seem to remember being told on my course to seal them before I do anything and then again before grouting. Is this right? I may have misunderstood what they said.

I priced the job at £1370. Is this a fair price? I charged £40 per sqm. What would other tilers charge for the job?

Re: When to prime the tile

prime, sorry seal the tile prior to grouting and then after grout is dry and tile clean.

Try not to get down the sides of the tiles or grout may struggle to stick!!!

£40 sounds good, is that inc of addys etc? Lots and lots of grouting there mind!

ah meant to say either seal prior to fixing or once fixed and cleaned.

Ive always sealed after fixing pre grouting.

Miles away!!! lol

Its been a long week🙂

The £40 is inclusive of addys and grout etc. Is that price good for me or the customer?

Re: When to prime the tile

id say yes to both. Win win eh.

Dont think id get much more than that round my way.

Re: When to prime the tile

The lady didn't even bat an eyelid when I quoted that. House is worth half a mill plus. I've been told Edinburgh is the most expensive place in the UK to have tiling done, so I probably could have got more out of the customer.

I'm quite happy with that though and it may lead to more work
