which cutter should i go for?

Hi all,

I need a new cutter. I was in topps yesterday and i came with in inches of buying the rubi tx range (i think) is around £300 plus but with topps tradeit was somthing like 238 i think only trade can buy this the only reason i dont have this as my cutter is because i cant afford atm and im not tiling day in day out so would be a big expence for me, i also seen the ts -30 model i could of had it for under £100 but it just seemed a bit small so im looking for somthing a bit bigger than a ts-30 but doesnt have to be a rubi i dont want to be spending anymore than £100 atm they had the "big clinker" there but that is to big and the lads didnt rate it. So just wondering what the pros recommend? thanks rob.

have you looked at what the lads are selling on here, i have a rubi ts-50 i aint used for years
saying that i would be reluctant to sell , as i think its prob the worse cutter rubi have ever made and i would:nt feel right telling people other wise just to sell it
as for what you will get for 100.00 im not sure

no ive not looked on here £100 is a bit of a base i can fluctuate a bit ill get discount also at topps just cant spend £200 + atm thanks.

Depends on what tour planning on doing, as it is the tile formats are getting larger, is it going to be a bad decision to buy to small a cutter, that said, buying a big cutter if your only going to be doing smaller tiles is as big a problem.

to be honest majorioty of stuff is cermaic i do have a wet cutter grinders etc but i dont like using those so i need somthing half decent but not over the top for what i use it for thanks all

I bought the big clinker as a bit of a stopgap before I get the TX700 and its great for what it cost. The wheels need replacing more often than rubi cutters do, but all in all great cutter for great money. Don't let anyone other than a tiler give you an opinion on a cutter because they won't have used it often enough to give a thorough enough review, also what works for one person might not for the next. My advice is try several and see what works for you.

Brilliant on porcelain, like I say the cutting wheel need replacing fairly often, they aren't too expensive though.

i've got a ts 600 which is for sale on the for sale forum but i'm selling it because it won't cut porcelain and most tiles i do these days are porcelain. i borrowed a sigma 3b which flew through the tiles, even cutting high grade porcelain 400mm into 15 mm slithers to get around a bend. i bought a new 3b today from diatech, £274 delivered.

Why not look at the montolit range of cutters. ive just bought the 63-p2 , great cutter.

sigmas are great cutters.....check out flea bay ive seen a few for sale on there

Sigma cutters are superb, even second hand they'll be great as they last for years upon years.
