Which Van?

I'm looking at getting a small van to start me out and with a budget of about £3500 inc VAT am looking at something like a Vauxhall Combo or Astra Van.

Probably a silly question but anyone have any other suggestions and reasons for them?

I always think that a van with side door/s is a lot better for loading and unloading, a astra van is a long reach to get anything out from close to the front seats.
I would also suggest a bigger van, you will soon outgrow a small van, unless you will not be carry materials.

Just sold my dads 4 year old Peugeot partner 39.000 miles diesel. Wont say how much but new owner has a true bargain.

hi kps i started out with a berlingo,great wee van ,depends if you are going to be delivering/carrying sheets of ply/plaster board etc

i now have a transit and suits much better
i think the combos are well rated however

I have a Renault Trafic and it's superb, mine is '97 and it's value is dropping so no doubt a '95 or 96 might fall into your price too.
Mine is still worth 4.5 - 5k i hope.

Hi I would recommend going for a Citroen Dispatch / Fiat Scudo / Purgeot Expert / Same Van Really I have had mine for two years now Dispatch on a 09 plate least. well worth it if you can do it. It has two sliding doors one on ether side Very easy access dose 37MPG Ave fully loaded best go for the long wheel base this way you can get full plaster boards/plywood in the back.
I can't recommend it enough If you have £3000 to spend put it down on a deposit for a new van and lease it ave £270 month for four years
gives you and your company more respectability and standing if you turn up to a job like this in stead of a 8-10 year old van!
I was in the same position as yourself Best advice I ever took.

I bought a Transit Connect over 2yrs ago 54 plate with side door and it has been a great wee van. Paid £2100 for it ,private sale.

i got a combo, good little van but i struggle for space at times. i dont have a side door but i think you'd lose a lot of space on a small van with one. i'd like a bigger van but i won't get it on the drive

I have a astra, but within a month of getting it i wish i hadn't its just to small, get something like a transit connect at least with a side door.

Ford Transit and still manage to fill it up at times, could'nt work with anything smaller though.
