Just doing a bit of market research here, how many of you have a window cleaner and what do they charge you? Are they traditional window cleaners or do they use pure water system? The reason i ask is I'm thinking about setting up a window cleaning business as i need a new challenge...and i know i can get loads of work in my area.

My closest friend started a window cleaning company when he was 16, he is now 42 with a house worth well over £1 mill, a new Mercedes every 6 months and loads of properties.
His vans (8) all carry the reach and wash systems with pure water so no streaks left on the glass. Although he now does only commercial work the private was very lucrative.
I have seen some guys using the same system on private houses and I think its better than the ladder and bucket on a belt way, its an expensive system to buy, £5k per van rings a bell although it may be a bit more.

Cant seem to find his new website, this is the old one though.

There are loads of people with the reach and wash system in the Brighton area, one of them being my best friend and you need to get commercial contracts to really earn any money.

I still pay my old fashioned cleaner £6 biweekly

whats wrong with tiling mate.???

didnt think you had been doing it that long.?
With tiling i only do the jobs that interest me, and cleaning natural stone...I want to set this up and get guys doing it for me. I can see a market for i in my area thats why.

if i was going to open a new business it wouldnt be in window cleaning. you'd need a ton of work to make any money...id always stick to a business that you know inside out other wise it start to become a gamble....unless you revolutionize the window cleaning industry by spraying on aquamix on the glass and letting that do the work

Yes but once you have that ton of work...its every month
So you would say to new tilers you need a ton of work to make any money....

i wouldnt put window cleaning in the same category as tiling because, one is a skilled trade and the other is a low skilled cleaning operative and i dont mean that in any way derogatory....

what ever way you tot up the sums, it normally equates to the same .......
x amount of meters in a day = y amount of money or
x amount of houses windows cleaned = y amount of money

its your choice, if you can make more money running a window cleaning round then tiling then thats fair enough...

if you have done the sums and you think its a winner then go for it  it wont take long to train somebody and if you can generate the work load for the lads then you'll have no worries will you?

i have friends who have car valeting business's and window cleaning business's but as with doms mate, its usually the property and other sidelines which bring the big money in......i just think you would make more money from tiling and restoration work imo because thats your niche

anyway, go for it, hope it works for you mate
