window reveal on the drink

Hi all,
I have a couple of retrospective questions and would like to pick your brains. I have just completed a kitchen that had a large bay window. Having tiled up the side to the top I put another batten up to keep my level accross and to support the tiles as they were reasonably heavy, I noticed the window reveal top ran out at least 3/4 of an inch from one side to the other. Which posed a problem once it came to tiling the "roof" of the reveal. I didn't think extra adhesive was any good. So, I bought some plaster, prepped and bonded it with PVA, and being that I'm not a plasterer I did my best to keep the level correct with a batten literally scraping accross the top. It is done, looks good, and tiles stayed up, however I wondered if I could have kept it simpler? or maybe I did something wrong?
I'm quite newish to the game and would appreciate comments on what you would have done. It made my heart sink when I saw how on the drink the reveal was. I'm really looking forward to the day when I have a nice straight room, everything cushty, hunky dory and lovely jubbly!:8:

I would have dot and dabbed plasterboard and tiled on that

thanks for your reply Whitebeam. I did think about putting plaster board up, but the gradient that the reveal ran up to ceiling was steady, so what would be acceptable on one side to tile, the rest ran away, I thought I'd end up with a step where the board ended. At the risk of sounding completely green ,(which I am:dizzy2 when you say dot and dabbed, what exactly do you mean? You gotta forgive me mate, all the important things I've learnt were never taught on my course, but from fella's who've done a trade to put bread on the table.

A dry wall adhesive, mixed and dabs of adhesive onto the surface of the area that needs squaring up then apply the plasterboard pushing into the dabs

it's good to know a better and easier way of doing it. That one's for the memory bank. I hope I don't get a proper challenging reveal any time too soon!
