Hi there, this my first post on the forum, so please go easy!
I have looked through loads of threads but not come across the problem that I have.

Experiencing a problem doing my kitchen with a mixed concrete and wood subfloor.
The wood floorboard subfloor is about 15-20cm wide and runs the length across the kitchen.
I will try and up load a picture so that the experts on this site could give me some pointers!

The original tiles were laid on top of the floor boards! Which I have found out thanks to this forum is a definite no-no!

I need help about how to tackle is job, I am a keen DIYer and happy to give things ago!
But if it is beyond me then may have to get an expert in to do the job.

The tiles I want to put down are white polished porcelain 60x30cm and the adhesive is Tiledepot Flexiable rapidset.
I have primed the concrete with Screwfix's SBR to try to seal in any dust, it seems to have done the job.
The kitchen to be tiled is roughly 6m2.

Any help would be great fully received.

Many thanks

James

I could give you all the information to create a proper install....but information is only part A of the job...there are also part B (proper installation) installing my recommended products does not guarentee a quality install..........Parts C (tiling with a brick bond has 4 pick up points, as opposed to square tiles only having 2) meaning brick bond is more difficult!

but if all you require is a quick rundoen of stuff then......

ensure timber portions in the exposed area are SCREWED to joists (if they are nailed...replace the nails with screws.....and add a couple for luck!) apply schulter ditra... or if the concrete is very uneven apply a SLC with a fibre reinforcement first, across the whole area! then lay the ditra....(other decouplers are available!) then tile away!

but my personal opinion is to contact a member on this forum called GARY the tiler...........he is in your area and is top of the tree when it comes to tiling..........might save you some grief? EH?

best wishes

best to phone people so they can come round and have a look and give you a quote. also retain the info you get on here so you can ask them about it when they are looking at the job.that way you can make sure they are not cowboys. you probably wont get anyone willing to discuss pricing for a job on here or one they have not had a look at
