nobody really wants to bring work back home with them so i was just wondering... do you put as much effort and pay as much attention to detail in your own kitchens/bathrooms etc as you would in a customers home?

i tried, oh yes i did but no matter what, i just couldnt! think i started tiling the en suite early june time and ive just this minute finished cleaning the grout off the floor, i suppose in many ways i should whip out the Silicon gun but i just cant be bothered :mad2:

if however it was for a customer, id have stuck my working hat on and got it all done in a jiff.

as bizarre as this sounds... ive actually used 3 seperate pieces of tile trim up the left hand side of the window frame as there wasnt a piece long enough and my old man insisted i do it that way as he didnt really care:huh2:
and at the doorway....... instead of a doorway strip... theres is.. wait for it..

a PVC trim, same as round the window  as they once again, wasnt too bothered and thought it would be better than forking out a few bob for a proper trim... they're not exactly short of cash tho... just i dunno, not that bothered as nobody is going to see it other than them :/

ah well im just glad i finished it finally! been putting it off for ages, tho they did cross my palm with £250 so i shouldnt grumble really, afterall i did beg them to let me tile it to gain more experience, and what did i learn? check the walls first to make sure theyre flat!!! :mad2: take off the toilet and sink, never do work at home :8: AMEN

personally. i think this was the perfect job to show your skills off and not cut corners...
You say it was only practice but doesn't that tell you that it should have been done properly...even if it meant taking bits off here and there and re-doing till you got it right , so that you know on a customers job what not to do.....

i totally agree, but these odd crap bits have literally happened right at the end as they just wanted me to get it done, ive done plenty of other jobs for people and i allways make sure i do as perfect a job i can

Ha ha ha,

I ripped my bathroom out in July and the skip is still sat on my lawn - Mrs Slow is going mad!

So far I've fitted the bath, tanked the walls and boarded the floor. I nearly installed the UFH but paying work has got in the way.

I'm hoping that work goes quiet in December so that I can get it finished, otherwise it could be a frosty crimble - lol.

My biggest issue is time, not corner cutting.
