I think you will find that not very many tilers out ther at the moment will have enough time on their hands to teach you (it's very time consuming). Also if you are only available at the weekend it narrows your options down. Have you thought about a 2 week course as an introduction into the trade? I hope I am wrong and you get an offer from someone. All the best in your search.

I would love to do a 2 week course but they cost a mint to be honest I can't afford it, after all bills ect I have nowt left. I can't do weekdays because I still have to pay the mortgage. Hopefully there is someone out there with some spare time.

Does the two week course show you enough to start working as a Tiler?

You will struggle to find some one to teach you to tile at weekends. Plus you're asking a fully experienced tiler to show you how to tile so you can go straight and compete for the same work?
Your best route will be learning the ropes at a good training school. If you want to invest in a career in tiling, then thats exactly what you need to do.

The thing you get with an apprentice youth, is a few years commited service while he learns paying him an apprentice wage. Helping to mix adhesive, clean tools, unload vans etc..., all menial jobs that help the tiler earn money. At the same time picking up knowledge here and there, maybe doing a day release.

What you're suggesting won't really earn the tiler money, more than likely cost him.

If you went on a decent course, then looked for a tiler, you might have more success.

Just some thoughts.

I would agree with Bri, you would be best off paying to learn the skills or enroll on a night course if you can find one.
Might cost a little but if its what you want to do in the long run then you will need the basic skills. Doing a course will give you an introduction to these which you can then build on at your leisure..

TBO if you've got a job stick with it as times are hard for established (i'm not one of them) tilers, let alone a newbie. if you want to earn a bit more get a evening/weekend job as well.
