Worst Grout Ever!

Imagine if you were to mix chewing gum with sand.................you'd create Unibond Triple Protection Wall Tile Grout. I've just had the displeasure of grouting a kitchen with the stuff. First job in about a decade I've not supplied materials. I won't let it happen again.

Usually best to stick to what you know, as with most things eh!

I know what you mean , did a job couple weeks back , tiles from topps and bal super flex grey grout already bought , I forgot how gritty this grout was and I carefully sponged in the joints but still dried like a patch work quilt.

Stopped using that grout now.....no matter how carefully you are it's patchy. ...grout 3000 now.....brilliant grout..

Best grout out there in my opinion, can't remember the last time I used anything else.

used nicobond silver grey last week on 6x3 porc on the walls just slumps out even on 3mm joints really poor stuff ...the new recipe granfix maxi is really good stuff liking that a lot

Floor .. Bal grout in colours is $hite!!

Probably over washing then, I don't use anything else and haven't had any problems with it looking patch work quilty or whatever.
It's a good grout that holds up in the joints well in my opinion.

Lol , I never over wash , left to set up for 45 mins and a damp sponge for first wash with a joint swipe to remove any loose polymers, left to set for further hour before another damp wipe and buff off , dried dark grey instead of light grey , over wetting lightens grout with polymer residue , it doesn't darken it ..

I have no issues with my regular grouts and I stopped using bal for above issues yrs ago but seen as bal was purchased before I even quoted , then hey ho not my choice.
The patching wasn't noticed by customer but me being an OCD kinda guy, I noticed it.

Just used Bal WJ Superflex Limestone on a floor and Bal Superflex Ivory on a wall this week,no problems to speak of. Well I've never had a problem with Bal grouts full stop.

Hmm, can't understand that then if you're leaving those sort of times in between.

As I have said, touch wood I haven't had any issues.

I've had a couple of patching issues with the grey super flex, none of the lighter colours. I've not been able to get on with the micromax since they changed it a few years back, horrid stuff to use now.

I've found the gunmetal ok, but the smoke for some reason is patchy yes indeed.

Same again I have used MM2 in Gunmetal and Smoke this year,not aware of any problems when I have left the job or any customer concerns.

The one grout I did have a problem with was a Evostik grout(supplied by the customer)
In a matter of weeks it all went very crumbly and I had to remove it and redo at my expense as Evostik back up was as good as a chocolate fireguard.
And as the OP,I now supply all materials or unless I can specify.
Evostik and Unibond.....same company????
