You can now tag users in posts.

Why?

To let them know you've mentioned them in a post so they're highly likely to come a read it.

How?

Like twitter you use the @ symbol in front of a username.

So to tag any of the following people you'd do this.

Hi [MENTION=4216]Sir Ramic[/MENTION], please come check this post out I've written about [MENTION=1504]whitebeam[/MENTION] just because [MENTION=9966]GirlRacerRed[/MENTION] told me to write it.

So those three would get a notification saying I've tagged them and it'll link them to this post.

I've literally just installed this so it's still in testing stages. If you clock a problem with it or anything else, let me know asap.

No just the forum users I'm afraid. Facebook would never let an external website or app have access to it's user database for obvious reasons. Spammers would just make a one-page website with ads on it and tag everybody possible to the page.

...... if that's the sort of thing you meant.

No not open to any user. But i'm logged in here through facebook, technically, somehow by liking TF's facebook page? I suppose the easiest way to explain is to be able to import your own facebook contacts into your friends list on here, so say i could "tag" a picture of a floor i've done for a friend or contact i have on facebook. But they're not on here. Am i making sense :S

I'm afraid that's not something possible right now.

What you can do, when I install the thing again (doesn't appear to be running on this forum but it is on most of my others) is like a thread (perhaps with a picture of a job) and that'll notify all your friends on facebook that see your news feed.

Can somebody tag me please? I'm just testing the landing page for notifications as it's not pushing you to the "mentions" tab on profiles right now. Conflict with something.

Got that Doug but looking don't know how to send a notification.....

notification gets sent automatically mate, you just do the @ sign then type username, then it sends notification

Yeah just use the @ key on your keyboard, then type the username you want to notify. The system does the rest.
