what a nice day iv'e had

Sadly, Mosaic girl, I don't live there any more. I make regular trips to Scarborough though so maybe next time. I lived for many years on Seamer Road, just near Valley Road. Happy days.

Wall and Floor Tiling Advice for Kate the Mate

Update on my bathroom. Spent yesterday using an axel grinder to get all of the remaining adhesive off the tiles. It was a hard old job and thought I would have a long soak in the bath afterwards. It was only then that we noticed that the bath isn't level, it tilts downwards away from wall (and...

first day as a non smoker

My dad was a Physical Training Instructor in the navy. Fit as a flea. Then he started smoking and now, at 75, he's hooked up to an oxygen machine for 18 hours a day. Once you've seen someone struggling to breathe because of smoking it gives you a real incentive to stop. Best of luck, Mike. You...

I just want to say thanks to this forum for all your help, and especial thanks to Scottley for coming out of his way to look at my bathroom yesterday and for identifying even more mistakes than I had seen originally! It has taken a long time to renovate our house and I really wanted the bathroom...

Oxfordshire to turn speed traps back on!

I got caught doing 36 mph in a 30 zone in Oxfordshire. I had to go on a days driving awareness course to save getting points.

Wall and Floor Tiling Advice for Kate the Mate

Your post had me in hysterics, Sean! The slithers of tile looked like Cadbury's fingers! There's no way I would want them on my wall! I've had a nice glass of wine or two and I'm ready for bed and I hope to sleep better than I did last night. Hubby thinks I'm brilliant, but chipping away at the...

Wall and Floor Tiling Advice for Kate the Mate

Just spent an hour or so cleaning off the tiles using a scraper. Thanks for the latest advice, Girlracer, I'll try some warm water in a spray. Some are cleaning of relatively easily, some are stuck like the proverbial. Hopefully when husband comes home he can do the late shift!! I might try...

Wall and Floor Tiling Advice for Kate the Mate

Although you can't really tell from these pics, the radiator pipes are in front of a boxed in water pipe. Two walls finished now, just the wall over the bath and the last wall to do. Can you tell me, how do I clean these tiles once they are all off? Do I wait until they are really dry and sand...

Tootall66, he started at the other side of the room, under the bath, with a full sized tile. The loo will be positioned over the thin pieces.

Wall and Floor Tiling Advice for Kate the Mate

Martyn, I know he used 'no more ply' but no idea what he used to stick them down. I only noticed this small strip when I looked at the pictures. The untiled area is where the shower is due to go. Oh, another thing. He tiled behind the towel rail through the bars!! And the horrible looking...
