WATER OR ELECTRIC UNDERFLOOR HEATING - New Extension

hi all,

I'm about to start a new extension which will be 27ft x 11ft (8ft ceilings) and will be an open plan living/kitchen/dining area. The floor will be ceramic/porcelain when finished.

My questions are the following;

If I opt for water underfloor heating, can this work on the same combi boiler as the rest of the house (2 bed bungalow, I will be installing a new boiler).

Given the size of the room, is underfloor heating enough on its own? Or do I need radiators

An alternative would be to have electric underfloor heating AND radiators which can operate independently (however I know the cost to run these is a little more) - what are the recommendations? Is this a better/safer/cheaper option?

Any general thoughts appreciated!

I'm not installing the boiler myself no, but having a new boiler installed. Just incase there are any specific requirements to the boiler

I don't know the ins and outs of it really, some on here do, perhaps @Uheat - Jake can advice.
But yes they will provide plenty of heat, and it's a nice warmth too as it's so well spread

Wet ufh can heat just about any space. It will need a separate zone from your boiler. If it's a combi, it will need converting to two zones, as it works separately to your radiators.

If it's a new extension, make sure you can install it into a screed. This works best to transmit heat to the space.

Wet underfloor would be my choice as you can always change as to what heats the water...

Wet UFH sounds like the best option for your extension, this would act as a primary heating source and wouldn't need any extra source of heat either. If you're worried about the heatloss due to a lot of glass then we can close the pipe centers to 150mm to create a little more wattage per m2.
