I've been doing various bits over the past week or two. And as I'm squeezing things in have been doing bits in the evening etc but finding that I'm spending lots of time cleaning up after myself.

Do you guys do a through jo (I've been cleaning back to "as new") or take the opinion that it's just not worth spending the time doing so.

Im thinking of things like trowels, mixers, buckets etc…

Everytime I've finished a bucket of addy I clean the bucket and tools, trowel etc at the same time....

I clean everything at the end of the day, trowels and buckets get washed after every mix, especially when using rapid set. Cutters get oiled every couple of weeks and the wet saw gets a full wash down and wd40 after every job it's used on. Tidy the back of the van once a week and wash it every other week.

full clean down between mixes and at the end of the day, clean tools last longer and keep more pennies in your pocket. Even 97p wilkinsons buckets get a clean down in and out after every use. More importantly though, clean down your work as you go

cutters, trowels, levels all get a good clean, however a decorator that was working in the same house as me wondered what the white box in the corner of the room was, then i turned it on and music came out...

Get yourself one of these, available at Tradetiler.com

Fill it up with warm soapy water at the start of the day.
I clean our my bucket and wash down tools after every mix.
WD-40 on the working parts of my manual cutter everytime it comes out the box. (wipe of the excess before use though)
Wet saws geta quick jet wash once a fortnight.
Washboy gets a complete clean through after every use.
Clean tools are happy tools.

A hard bristled floor scrubbing brush is brilliant for washing down buckets and tools at the end of the day. Once you get one, you wonder how you did without.

I clean trowels regularly through the day then get scraper on them at the end of the day to get off any dried addy. My biggest OCD is my van, have to Hoover the back out every week and put all tools back in their places after every job!
