Another new display going up at TTHQ. Ionic Porcelain wall & floor tile. What colour Grout3000 would you guys go for on the Copper tile?

Jasmin?

Brown?

Cocoa?

Charcoal?

I would have said a grey myself.

I popped into a CTD a few weeks ago and some bloke was tiling the bays (he was at lunch so I didn't see him), but what I did see was a spent tub of addy in each bay. These were large formats like what you have.

Topps sometimes use hot glue to stick up their displays. The reason I know this is because in the extreme hot Summers we have down South the tiles start falling off.

I always try to match the grout colour with the main colour in the tile. For the copper I would be looking at the closest shade of brown, and whatever shade of beige the other tile is. I would also do the mosaics in the brown as well.

Maybe that's just me, but I always think that if the grout colour is much more different to the tile then your eye is drawn to the grout joint and not the beauty of the tile.

We had it before where a customer came in and saw our merch team tiling a display with a glue gun and Silicon..... went home and did the in his shower thinking it would be ok, because that's how they were doing it.

It didn't last long!

ha ha, yep, had that before too!

Why do you shop guys use glue? Wouldn't a training adhesive be a better option, less likely to fall off wall when it gets hot, and so much easier to fix tiles? And it's easy to clean up training adhesive when you change the display.

Just the speed I would say, up and grouted straight away. Hot glue and Silicon does hold well as long as the display is grouted. It is also fun to watch the newbies struggling with scraping a board down when you start teaching them how to tile a display! Especially when they have never used a bladed scraper before and don't realise that a sharp tap will remove the glue just as easily as going at it like mad on a hot day :)

You have a cruel and warped sense of humour.......... I like it, hehe.

The training adhesives are also designed to be temporary, so reduced bond strength. Therefore you have a bit of a Health and Safety issue if the board was ever to take a knock and it all comes crashing down on a customer, and also bearing in mind that the displays need to remain stuck anywhere between a couple of weeks to a couple of years.
