Removing patio sealer

Good morning all,
I have been sold the wrong product to seal back limestone (Thompsons patio and block paving sealer - wet look). I took the chaps word for it and stupidly just started sealing!
It was not until this year when I couldn’t work out why my patio looked so crap that I read the tin and saw that it says “not suitable for black limestone“ 🤦🏻‍♂️
I’m basically after some advice on how to remove it so I can re-seal it with Azpects back to black.
Azpects sell a sealer remover but it’s not suitable for impregnating sealer like what the Thompsons stuff is.
I’ve got about 50 square meters to remove it from so any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Tricky one. Its a rough surface so you will need detail brushes. You could use a big brush on a rotary machine or a hand detail cleaning scrubbing brush ( available from cleaning suppliers). Then you are going to have to use high alkaline cleaners ( get a few of them). Start doing tests on individual tiles to see what works. I use a Fila product called PS87. There are strippers from every leading tile product manufacturer though.
Apply the product and give it time to work. Use a steam cleaning machine to supercharge the products if they don’t work. Agitate with your brush and rinse. For the tests you can heat gun patches to see how it worked.
It may be a tile by tile situation to get it off properly. Hope it all works out.

I have finally finished it all today after about 50 hours of labour and nearly £500!!

I used a sealer remover, hired a rotary machine and wet vac and also used my jet washer.
It was a pig of a job to say the least but the final results after re-sealing (with the correct product) are well worth it.
Ive attached a picture with the old sealer removed and one coat of the new sealer applied.

Hi, I have a similar problem we used to used Thompson’s limestone sealer which has been discontinued for a few years I’ve been told this isn’t water based and my patio looks like yours did, like you I’m having trouble finding something to put on it before applying the back to black which I have bought, but tried a little bit and can see it goes on unevenly where the old sealer was on the slabs, what product did you end up using?

It looks like they don’t make the same stuff that I used anymore but below is a link to what I believe maybe the equivalent?
I spoke to a guy there and he was extremely helpful giving me at least 30 minutes of his time! Give them a call and speak to them.
