    Retired Engineers

I'm working with British Ceramic Tiles this week so I'm only working to the nearest 10mm ish :tearsofjoy: The bloke is a retired architect so not quite as bad but, I did point out that his tiles were "not of the highest quality!"

    When Do You Uncouple?

I'm not sure what British standards state but why take the chance of putting cement in contact with gypsum when they are not compatible unless you create a barrier between the 2?

Guide To Tile Weights And Wall Limitations

Following a few past threads there seems to be some confusion on what tiles can go onto what walls. Most of you here are professional tilers so apologies if any of this is old news. This is for those who are unsure how to gauge tile weights and for what is a suitable surface for your specific...

    Thoughts On B&q Tiles…

the hd printed are from 'British ceramics'? if so, the only thing British is the print and glaze. i believe the tiles are made (very poorly) abroad and then finished and packaged here. all bent like bananas! simple rule which stands true - you get what you pay for.

    Important Changes to Tiling Standards

I've edited the thread title so it helps people find it. A good thread and one that will save a lot of money for a lot of people. Personally I've seen that many threads on failing floating floors I think I'd just not risk it and recommend they use laminate flooring or something instead.

    Important Changes to Tiling Standards

Tiling to Floating Floors I have seen various threads on here on this subject. Some of you say tile it, some of you say don't. I've been speaking to various companies today, and after a little cutting and pasting, this is what I've got. One of the key things I will ask of customers from now...

BS5385 if I remember rightly. British standards in wall and floor tiling. Yeah. There's a lot of surface types (plaster, plasterboard, concrete, tongue and groove, ply, then tile boards etc etc, and even existing tiles) that we tile to. And a lot of tile types that have different adhesion...

    Tiling British standards

Bs5385:3 states this.... 1) joints less than 6 mm wide, 1 mm; 2) joints 6 mm or more wide, 2 mm.  Laying tiles in a brick bond pattern should be carefully considered because of potential lipping caused by the curvature of large format tiles, which can be excessive.  The lipping of tiles is...

Ceramic tiles crazing ? Baffled ? Advise please !!!

They were British ceramic tile . 20mm adhesive was not everywhere ! A lot of it was tight back to the wall , but it bellied in the middle. Can't see how this would make the tiles craze though ? And co incidentally the tiles are crazed more away from the deeper adhesive , also when I said...

UFH Heating, Wood Effect Tiles, Grout Sizing?

British Standard recommendation 3mm minimum for ceramic floor tiles. Question should be do you need to make joints wider for tiles of this size and heated floor? I would answer no, I don't think so but you must put in movement joints to de-stress the tiling.
