    Help with Stacking tiles

Bct stands for British ceramic tile, they are a tile manufacturer producing budget tiles which seem to have a variation on sizes in each pack

Anhydrite or Concrete - dont know

I am now so confused --The brochure says ceramic and British made - the tiles say Turkey and porcelain and the website say British and porcelain and ok for floor. Are you saying that they are no good for a floor. And I am not sure what you mean when you say white biscuit, I am looking here...

Anhydrite or Concrete - dont know

Check the stock before you start! I had the same situation last year with this range. Topps advertise that they are made in Britain and are suitable for floors - both facts are not true. The tile they show is a white biscuit wall tile that they are selling like BCT tiles with soft glaze, totally...

    Lots of defective tiles

...I've now hit 3 bad boxes in a row and will need to order more. I've almost finished a wall now so I can't change tiles now. They're British Ceramic Tiles, and after tiling I've heard that they're not very good. The defects I have vary from tiny scratches, to water spot type marks and...

    Topps tile ufh and hardiebacker

Got to agree with you Tom. I wouldn't do it either. Why even do it with the customer's blessing, knowing that it will fail? Pointless exercise in my opinion. I have yet to see a BCT ceramic tile which I would be happy to install on any suspended floor. Didn't British used to mean "quality"...

    Topps tile ufh and hardiebacker

I wouldn’t fix ceramic tiles over ufh, especially British ceramic tile. The layers you have said sound ok if that’s what they have on site.

    a bit of information.............

One day - if they keep practising, the Italians might get as good as these: HD Serpentine Grey Gloss Wall | British Ceramic Tile - https://www.britishceramictile.com/hd/grey-gloss-wall-bct04172 (...with complete and utter sarcasm - and shame for our ceramic "industry")

Wetroom tiles - are they ok to use ?

Thank you - ALL !!! So, it means I will have to suggest my customer to go with porcelain tiles than bct? What do you think about the floor tiles are they any good or are they also not to recommend ? He isn't short of money though I just think he liked the look though. What Victorian tiles...

Wetroom tiles - are they ok to use ?

Listen carefuly Ron, British ceramic tiles are nothing but trouble. They are made of chalk and icing sugar and will give you nothing but problems. The rep will fob you off as well. Victoria plum love selling rubbish so they're right up their street.

    Rob @ Middlesex Tiles

Not sure how this post is relevant to Middlesex tiles and deserves a thread of its own ! But I do agree with your observation with ref to BCT.

    Rob @ Middlesex Tiles

Hi Rob Are you stocking British Ceramic tiles? I had a problem with them once and the rep was absolutely unhelpful, he couldn't even be bothered to meet me, I will happily name and shame him. I refuse to fit their tiles now and will walk away if I have to as I'm never short of work.

What went wrong with this floor????

Last lot of British ceramics I layed were more like chalk than ceramic. Very absorbant and sucks moisture out of adhesive way to quick so added more water than normal to mix and back buttering was essential

    Tile Shading issue advise

Not really a shading issue but a supply problem so interested how you'd handle this one Paul? I'm just on with a bathroom half the walls 14sqm in total are of 3 sizes of strips of slate, fixed with random groutlines. My customer ordered 5sqm of each size strip. We noticed last night at close of...

    Tile Shading issue advise

This is fine but I will bet my bottom dollar that when you supply tiles you don't explain to the customer that they should expect to pay an excess of £150-£250 for the installer to remove all tiles from boxes, lay out and check shading do you?
