    More is always better especially on timber floors. But 12 x screws we will warrant, no bad thing to put in more you are right.

    We tested it with the robinson wheel, basically you add weight as the wheel goes over a floor until failure. The install with 12 x screws performed just as well as 39. We say its the minimum, more is always better but 12 we will warrant as long as our install guide is followed

    If you look at our new guide (attached) on page 8 it shows our masonry wall installation. If skimmed the same rules apply you just need to use a longer screw. We require a minimum of 50mm of the fixing into the masonry. Just increase the screw length based on the thickness of skim. Hope this helps!

    Ok Tom I get what you mean now, I see you mean the actual picture showing the chap installing tiles not the diagram which I thought you meant. So yes you are right thats an old picture and SHOULD show the tape over the joints. Great spot and apologies over the confusion

    The diagram doesn't show any joints and that's why you can't see the tape on the install picture. But it is there in the details and instructions. Tape is required on all joints in all installations with HardieBacker.

    The picture may not show tape but point 3 'finishing joints' outlines that it is required. Hope that answers any confusion!

    As @Adey1980 states above our boards would be ideal. We recommend a thin layer of tile adhesive underneath, screw down with 12 x screws and tape the joints with an alkaline resitant tape. I have attached our brand new installation guide here which may be of use.
