    Your business cards..

Not sure. I created the first version of this 5 years ago. It was a gimmick I thought would improve the professionalism of the cards. Some people comment positively about it, but never checked to see who uses them.

What colour grout for tile shop display?

Why do you shop guys use glue? Wouldn't a training adhesive be a better option, less likely to fall off wall when it gets hot, and so much easier to fix tiles? And it's easy to clean up training adhesive when you change the display.

How best to Tile a room?

Only just caught up with this thread. mp3wizard that's a fantastic result you achieved. I would have charged you a good few thousand quid to do that for you ;) I appreciate the trials and tribulations in getting there, but there are a lot worse tiling jobs being done by "professional tilers"...

    Splotchy grey grout. Again

It happened before. Using BAL gunmetal (silver grey) grout for a kitchen splashback of metro tiles. It went "splotchy" (dark patches in grout). I got through all the "overhydrated" arguments (mix too wet or too much sponging water after filling), which I am pretty convinced did not apply, I mix...

Underfloor heating - to screed or not to screed?

I keep getting offered karndean and vinyl work. I know what I am doing tiling, but vinyl is a whole different ballgame. I refuse the work. Mind you, with my inexperienced eye jcrtilings work looked good, if a little grubby (or dirty lens lol).

what m2 of tiles would you be fitting on average in a day

Just read this - and saw the TTA latest initiative - "Member get Member." What I really liked was the "Member" sponsoring you pays your £50 introductory membership fee..... Really? Sharon - "Get Me?" After you paid my £50 membership, you get a £25 voucher. I call that a win-win...

    Snickers beaded knee pad inserts

Thats the ones I always bought - but with the cordura toughened knees. The Dickies warehouse is a mile up the road from me. But split crotches is a no-no.

    Snickers beaded knee pad inserts

I recently converted to Snickers Floor Layers trousers after years of Dickies. Main reason for change? Dickies quality has nosedived - after years of buying, the last 3 pairs all split in the crotch within 3 months of use. The jury is out on the Snickers. Had mine for 6 weeks now, and the true...

    Look at these amazing showers!

Ty Lou for posting this. I love seeing creative bathrooms, but they only look that good when newly fitted. The ones that get used end up with black bacteria and orange soap gunge in the corners - its often black under the wooden slats. Bottom line is, the folk that have these installed, skimp on...

what m2 of tiles would you be fitting on average in a day

I spend a few days working backtoback, log on for a laugh and find its in full Kevin mode. What is going on in this Forum? Anyone who wants to join to troll others, calls themselves Kevin. Why not Gloria? Or Zippy? Meanwhile. All the best Sharon, you deserve to win, and got my vote. And I know...

    Any Freemasons on here?

We already have an organisation that seems to model itself on the Masons. We call it TTA. The Masons are secretive, and this has led to a lot of suspicion of them. But both my grandfathers were Masons, and the organisation is incredibly supportive of its members, their families, and their...

    Working away from home

TJ. Welcome to the south. We now have deserts down here due to global warming. Not nice deserts mind - mud flats extending miles out from Weston Super Mare, littered with spent syringes, MacDonalds deflated helium balloons, and rusting walking frames. Beware of Thatchers bearing gifts of...

    Industrial tiling in the UK

This is a fascinating video, I don't want to see this disappear, but in modern homes there is no call for this. I am only trained in modern tiling techniques and too old in the tooth to change. Hopefully there are youngsters out there who will keep the traditions alive.

    Ceramic tiles in a shower

Ah see, there are some uses for Bank Holiday weekends. If I can manage my iPad well enough I will post some tiling tool reviews to compensate for you giving up precious family time to scientifically add to this debate.

I haven't a clue about that. But I am interested in finding out.

    Ceramic tiles in a shower

Correct me if I am wrong. Most ceramics have a glazed surface - that is waterproof. Yes, water soaks back through grout if not epoxy, but I think Deano tested and found you had to soak grout for seven hours before water permeated through to sub strata. And of course, water soaking through grout...

    Underfloor heating/issue with builder

I did my Part P exams back in 2008. One of the key issues with siting any electric cables is consideration of how heat is disapated - there are whole appendices to the 17th wiring regs on that. To cut a very large amount of info down, manufacturers of electric appliances have to give very...

If your child ended up being a tiler, would you be proud of them?

All that is important in life is to be happy with your family. Work gives you a massive sense of self fulfillment, and if you don't get that, your family will suffer. Money is massively important to anyone with children - you cannot get away from that easily, love your kids all you can but they...
