    Preparing floor for Lino

Thanks fella I've got a ton of sand, cement, pva etc. I don't suppose any of this could be used could it? Only need about a cups worth of filler. If not, I'll go out to the shops this weekend and go with one of your recommendations. Cheers

    Preparing floor for Lino

Hey guys, Sorry, not tiles, but I'm going to fit some lino in the bathroom. I've straightened the floor with 6mm plywood. Do I need to worry about the seams between plywood sheets? I dont want these to be visible above the lino. How do I fill the gaps around the toilet and sink pedestal etc...

    Mapei renovation screed primer

Thanks for the reply I just spoke to mapei technical. They said their product can be used as a traditional screed to completely cover the pipes. They're happy with 5mm clearance above the pipes

    Mapei renovation screed primer

Well its my first time but I've spoken to three plumbers and 2 ufh companies and they weren't phased by it so must be a thing. With respect to the screed, I sought advise from the ufh company after I realised my concrete wasn't high enough and they told me there was no right or wrong way to do...

    Mapei renovation screed primer

This system was recommended to me by the underfloor heating people so that the heat is retained in the slab and slowly releases throughout the day. It wouldn't be lost, there's 100mm king span underneath and 50mm king span on all 4 sides. My only issue is that there's 42mm between concrete and...

    Mapei renovation screed primer

Its 42mm to the finished floor. To the tiles and adhesive its 28-30mm For overlay boards to work I would need a 30mm overlay board... Or ...use a standard overlay board and top it with Mapei renovation screed, hence the suggestion to skip the middle man and go with the mapei reno screed to...

    Mapei renovation screed primer

I could put overlay boards down but then I'll have to increase the floor level will mapei renovation screed anyway. So why not use the renovation screed to begin with? It is one of its listed applications. Cheers

    Mapei renovation screed primer

Yup. See my previous thread on the topic. The original plan was to have overlay boards and then tile on top but it turns out I've got 28-30mm space to fill between the tiles and concrete so I was recommended the mapei renovation screed.

Thanks guys I'm using a manifold anyway. Here is a plan of my kitchen: kitchen plan.png - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1HGhvzfIa8xtPFn7WXEfpfP7l_8Ja_yX0 I'm not going to be screeding/tiling where the units go. I'll batten the space up in the middle and start pouring the mapei renovation...

    DIY overlay boards for ufh

nah. It's not an actual radiator TRV. It's something like this: https://www.polypipe.com/housing/polypipe-underfloor-heating/room-packs/overlay%E2%84%A2/polypipe-ufh-temperature-limiting-valve That one is made by polyplumb specifically for underfloor heating, it only allows the maximum...

    DIY overlay boards for ufh

The concrete slab is already insulated underneath with 100mm PIR. I was planning on putting overlay boards on top of the concrete and tiling directly on top of that. I was going to do DIY overlay boards, but now that I've realised I need to bring the floor up by 26mm, overlay boards won't cut...

    DIY overlay boards for ufh

you have to copy and paste the text into google mate. Its the first link. Those ready boards are a good shout but it'll work out more expensive I think. I'll need 5 boards @ £25 each and levelling compound underneath them. The Mapei looks good and it'll give better heat distribution. I've...

    DIY overlay boards for ufh

Thanks for the replys fellas Very insightful. This sounds like the best option to me. So I can lay the pipes on top of the concrete and then poor the renovation screed directly above the pipes to the required level? I have been recommended something like this too: Concrete & Screed Fibres -...
