    Drilling sets.

Just got my AtS bits, used a bit of sponge in them, porcelain tiles werent the hardest, but both 25mm and 35mm went thru in uder 10 seconds. Third hole with 25mm bit took no longer than the first. Used with battery drill. Shame theres no more holes to drill in this bathroom.

Uheat membrane and cable and tanking and moisture control...?

Ditra heat so expensive, both are waterproof and moisture controlling membranes. Sent a scaled drawing of floor and wall elevations, showing tile layout and position of falls in screed. Once screeded, the rest is down to me.

    Tile cutting problem

Had the same before, bought bearing wheels and new diff sized wheels for 800mm tile used in a Rubi tx1200 but didnt help, best approach was score 5-6 times till wheel sounds "dull ". If no results, try grinding top and bottom 50mm them snapping. With some tiles, theres no guaranteed solution.

Uheat membrane and cable and tanking and moisture control...?

Hello guys, quoting a "Bathroom", 20 square metre floor, partly set falls for linear waste and shower area, to contain self contained sauna and seperate hot tub, and 30 metre walls. Needs electric undertile heating, tanked for wetroom, and the screed is not yet laid, but will be using quick...

    Drilling sets.

Had to buy and use a 50mm electro plated Genesis bit to day, knowing it may only last 4 holes, it tore through porc on 15 seconds. Been using a Tileasy 35mm dry bit, and have been really struggling. I know they arent the best, but have limited (no choice) off the shelf availability at my local...

    Ultra Proflex S2 Adhesive

So it's not like the S2, rubber crumb like the old Balflex? Says its fibre reinforced. Only ever used the 2 part Mapei Keraquik and latex in comparison, and they are like chalk and cheese.

Hello Guys, just bought some of this as a cheaper alternative to Mapei S2 Quick, anyone had any experience with it or thoughts? Nice to have with white alternative.

    Drilling sets.

Heard good things about the ATS ones. Can use with battery drill but need to be kept wet. Someone said to put a bit of sponge in the bit to help lubricate. They are sooo cheap. Bout 4 quid for a 35mm bit. At that price, they can last 2 holes for all I care.

    Tile spacers

I use 2mm on walls and 3mm on floors, both depend on the quality and regularity of size of tile though. Always use 3mm on planks on floor, although was asked to use 4mm on my last job, and looked really good with dark grout, helps with bowed tiles too.

    dot and dab

Didn't know there was hidden history, Ste450's post didn't look that bad to me. Don't think anyone would be criticising the wealth of quality advise from experts on this site, it's second to none. Seems like the d+d method is still well practiced, and perhaps not as outrageous as first implied...

    dot and dab

I think we all survey a wall before tiling it, and if Ste450 deemed it flat enough to 10mm notch trowel it, he would. It's quicker, ensures a good bed, and puts you in a good mood. But it in reality, it's so rare.

    dot and dab

Love this thread. Agree with Ste450, I use a combination of methods with large format tiles on bad walls, which 95% of walls are in my experience. I spead wall, spread tile, dots where extra needed, then back fill edges. Will sometimes just multi dot, then back fill, allways ensure this a...

    Mapei Keracolor temps.

Hello guys, tiled an exterior step shortly before Christmas, and need to get back to grout it asap. Its only a small 5m 600x300 porcelain with 3mm gap. I know the recommended temps are +10°, but will be nowhere near it over the next couple of days, when I've planned to do it. The jobs over an...

    New van time

The tax options become a minefield, at the end of the day, the less your vehicle costs the better, as long as it doesn't look old and tatty, and you have faith it wont drip oil on your customers driveways, any money you're not spending on it goes in your pocket. Good signwriting is one of your...

    New van time

Yeah, I took that into account, but with the first downpayment, monthly payments over 4 years, the van is nearly paid for but you don't own it. Thats if its been returned in excellent condition. My van takes alot of knocks, scratches and minor damage on and off site, cant imagine the list of...

    Top Tiling Tips for 2016?

This year I've found myself pricing and working to day rate prices more than ever especially on bathrooms, nearly impossible to give a metreage rate to encompass "typical bathrooms" for regular builders so they can "make an allowance for tiling". UTH, tanking, niches, mosaic features, large...
