Bit of a quick straw poll here.
I still Polybond new plaster with watered down pva before tiling. Always have, always will. Who else does? Having an argument with a smart arse builder "who's been tiling for years" who says its not needed.
Your thoughts please.
Cheers :beermug:
Hello oh knowledgeable ones.
The handful of bathroom floors I've done previously have been new installs, bogs been easy to lift to tile under or plumbers been there to remove it for me.
Job in the new year is round the existing suite which looking at the state of the screws holding the pan...
Just purchased the Porsadrill kit and on first use I'm chuffed to bits with it. Guides work well, nice clean hole, no mess, top job!
Just wondering what everyone uses to power their bits though. Put mine in an 14volt cordless. Although this is slow and not mega powerful, its just a nice speed...
Afternoon all.
I've been reading who uses a multi cutter on doors and architraves etc to get a tile to slide under, but do these cutters work on cutting tiles and has anyone any experience of this?
When I was having my drama the other week, trying to envelope a tile that was too big for my...
All. I'm trying to cut a 330 x 330 square tile diagonally into 4 pieces, to fit round a wetroom grid. Dry cutting doesn't give you a grout joint, so want to use wet cutter. On my cutter you can't use the guide, see photo, as the tiles too wide and at 460 diagonal its too wide for the bigger wet...
Hello oh knowledgeable ones. A couple of questions.
Firstly, at the junction where the tiled floor meets the tiled wall, what is tiled first? Wall before floor or vice versa? Does it matter? Sealing the junction with grout or Silicon?
Secondly, roughly how long does it take the tanking...
Can include the area of the property (for example - the dungeon), the property itself (bathroom at Buckingham palace) or the country you were in (tiling an igloo at the south pole).
I have no out of the ordinary places, but lets see what you lot have been up too.
After a nightmare at the day job this week and no tiling this weekend, a few more hours in the pub than usual tonight.
What's everyone's poison of choice?

Well, my second actually. Forgot to take photos of my first one, a kitchen floor, as got a bit excited and cleared off minus photos. Anyhow, the hard work has paid off and I've been paid up, happy days. Not quite quick enough to give the day job up just yet lol!
Afternoon all.
My friend needs a walk in shower installing and I'm the appointed DIYer. Just after some advice. I understand the principles of over boarding the timber floor, tanking floors and walls etc, but wondering if I need to use a pre-formed shower tray?
My theory was to overboard the...
Alright all. Thought it about time I introduced myself. My names Andy and having done a few tiling jobs and been on a DIY school tiling course, I need to get round to leaving my current job and going self employed. Have been lurking about on here doing nothing, so here's my first post! Will...
