    Floor grout removal

If you are careful and the area you are cleaning up is small, then a multi tool, diamond tipped blade is fine, plus another vacuum bag !!. For larger areas, or when tidying up a new installation prior to grouting, I use the Ox grout hand file, and the replacement blades are cheap enough. Plus...

    Pebble Shower - Grout Selection

Hi, I have recently done the same - limestone, flattened pebbles, over a schluter foam pan, with linear drain. I used a white Ardex adhesive, 12mm (almost half inch !), to bed in sheets of pebbles and ensured all pebbles were fully embedded in adhesive. I was concerned about the size of some...

Tiling treated wall with zinsser 123

Hi, I’ve never tried tiling over zinsser primer, and probably wouldn’t try it. I did some painting in the summer for a customer (trying to stay afloat !!), and they bought zinsser 123 primer. When dry, after approx 24hrs, the adhesion wasn’t great and the dry film was soft and peeled off quite...

    Silicon brand

All, thanks for your thoughts / replies. Ive never tried Weber before, so, if I find some I’ll give it a go. Will also give (coloured) Mapesil a try, looks like it’s widely available. Agree with the comments about Dow, seems like it’s a go-to product if using white.

    Silicon brand

Hi all, I’ve been having a few issues of late with trying to get a good, smooth finish from coloured Silicon. Have been trying different brands and so far mixed results. I have been using Ardex Silicon for a while, good colour range, but recently product seem very thick and not the easiest...

Ardex Adhesives Training Day Discussion Thread

Wow....really !!. Like Julian said, it’s not all about the loss of earnings. I went to learn something new, that hopefully will be useful to me in the future and allow me to earn a bit more when the situation arises. I did come away with some adhesive and grout to complete a medium size kitchen...

Ardex Adhesives Training Day Feedback Thread

I recently attended a large format tile training day run by Ardex, at their Haverhill trading centre. The day was very well organised and run by Andrea King & Vince Ruffini of Ardex, with support from Rubi - rail and cutting system. It was also a good opportunity to see and try some of the...

Kitchen Splash back with metros - setting out for trim

Hello AA, Just a quick question about finishing off when using tile trim. In the photo above : where the piece of vertical tile trim is cut off level with top of tile, do you generally use (white) Silicon and “fill in / smooth off” top of trim to “blend in” as best you can ?, or do u have a...
