Just installed Ditra today for the first time, i noticed blotches of the grey thin set coming through visually once set . I thought I didn't get proper coverage so I lifted half up in the little bathroom and it was 90% on the fleece? Does the thin set grey colour determine if set properly?

Some adhesives give info (not seemingly Mapei). I think the Mapei Standard Set Plus would suit be well as a DIY'er. How do I know what trowel type/size to use? Does it really matter? I'll be fixing 60x30 ceramic wall tiles to Marmox boards.

Is the issue with ready mixed adhesive seemingly only recommended for 30x30 tiles max that it will not set at all giving required adhesion, or is it that it will take a longer (than the usual 24 hour) setting time?
