hi

i will be fitting some 1.2m long porcelain tiles soon for a customer.

obviously they are too long for my tx700n and the bed of my wet cutter so whats the best way to cut them. either a angle grinder or over the top of my trusty plasplugs master tiler with marcrist blade.

any help on this would be appreciated..if it sounds like a stupid question, its ok, its me:stupid:

If these are going to come around regularly, you may be better splashing out on a big mother of a cutter!

i had the same prob
i un screwed two blots at the end of my rubi.
scribed, turn tile round scribed again, used the breaker..
bit tricky but it workrd for me.

Hi, I fitted these about two years ago (1200 x 300 from porcelanosa)
My sigma scriber had a cutting length of only 580, so I did all of the long cuts with my little mx200 wet saw. This was a slow but effective solution

I have since invested in a Rubi TX1200 scriber, this copes with everything, and even though I'm not fitting tiles of this size everyday, the scriber gets alot of use as it cuts large pocelain floor tile with ease and precision

Drawbacks are, it's massive! it needs a bit of space to set up and work around, so can be tricky in small domestic situations, however the time it saves on large areas more than make it up. Fits the width of a Renault Traffic perfectly,

Jason

thanks guys

i will invest in a tx1200n when there is enough money in the pot for for the time being i'll have to use another option for cutting.

my concern is which will give the better cut....over the master tiler or anglegrinder

any takers?

Hi Ed, how are things on the plastering side ?

Have a ring around a few hire shops and see what they have to offer in respect of cutters...you never know, one of them may have something large enough, you put the cost of hire onto the job..Mark.

Hi ed mate......sometimes CTD will hire these larger cutters out.....just a thought if you don,t come across this format often........

thats a good option!!

i have about 6 alliminum straight edges variing from 2ft -10ft, so i'll use one of those to run it along with a couple od spring clamps to hold it in place.

one of those cordless makita wet angle grinders looks a good tol to have also!

dont you just love toys
